Our mission is to help people create a healthy future through the healing arts.
At Transformations Mending Fences, we know how hard it is to navigate an untreated mental illness or substance abuse disorder. As a nationally accredited and licensed Florida residential mental health treatment center that doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, we offer a range of psychological and physiological residential care options to help those suffering from mental health issues, alcohol or drug addiction, or co-occurring disorders.
No one should have to go through recovery alone, but we also understand residential treatment is a big commitment that can disrupt the routines of our patient’s lives. Learn more about what residential care is, the services offered at our behavioral health facilities, and the benefits residential treatment programs for substance use and mental health conditions can offer.
Residential mental health therapy is precisely what it sounds like – clients remain at the treatment center, where they not only live in a supportive atmosphere with peers, but also receive frequent support from qualified physicians, therapists, and other mental health professionals. It is one of the most intensive levels of care but it is far more comfortable than hospitalization because the environment is peacefully homelike as opposed to the possibly chaotic hospital wing.
We have all the resources individuals need for a successful recovery from a substance abuse disorder, mental health condition, or co-occurring disorder. Mental health clinicians and other support staff, including medical professionals, are usually on-site to provide a range of treatments, including therapy, detox, and medication assistance.
Our residential mental health center at Transformations Mending Fences offers a variety of traditional and experiential therapies and programs, including:
Located on a 400-acre Florida retreat away from the chaos of everyday life, our residential mental health facilities provide residents with an opportunity to reflect and heal in a supportive environment. Clients come to our program to address mental and behavioral health concerns, such as depression, substance use, grief, loss and trauma. Our daily structured schedule helps residents establish new routines and develop strong connections with peers and our trained clinical therapists.
Our patients undergo 14 hours of clinical services along with two hours of individual therapy each week. Family counseling and group therapy sessions are also available. Patients receive individualized treatment plans and goals to help them through recovery. Our comprehensive mental health services focus on treating specific mental illness conditions, such as depression or anxiety, along with addiction to drugs and alcohol. Patients also have access to life skills groups and substance abuse clinical groups.
Professional help is available at our residential mental health facility to assist our residents with day-to-day life or medical emergencies and help them stick to their treatment plans and goals. Psychiatric evaluations are conducted for all patients within 48 hours of admission by licensed professionals to determine the amount of care needed.
We also offer the Help for Our Heroes program, which focuses specifically on treating veterans and first responders to improve their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Our services focus on treating any mental illness or addiction residents are dealing with, such as:
Like our regular residential mental health treatment, Help for Our Heroes gives residents access to a variety of therapies that concentrate on improving behavioral health by working through traumatic events and other obstacles interfering with long-term stability.
Each patient comes to our facility with a unique set of mental health and addiction issues. To ensure they receive the treatment needed to successfully recover, we offer a variety of traditional and experiential therapies for any diagnosis.
Residents work with a counselor to process traumatic events and reimagine these memories in a healthy way. After about one to five sessions, clients may no longer feel intense distress when thinking about certain memories, giving them the ability to heal and move on.
Clients have the option to work one-on-one with clinical staff or attend group therapy to manage beliefs or behaviors that cause or enhance anxiety. Support groups are designed to allow residents to share their experiences and contribute to the healing of their peers. This therapy is meant to address client concerns related to anxiety and help them find new and effective ways to reduce their symptoms.
A form of psychotherapy, CBT is meant to help residents find healthy ways to change their dysfunctional thoughts, behaviors, and emotions and the way they’re processed. This is done by challenging and uprooting negative and irrational beliefs to reduce any symptoms of a mental health disorder. Stemming from the belief that a person’s thoughts and perceptions influence their behavior, the therapeutic activities individuals undergo are meant to help get their life back on track.
Our treatment center also offers EMDR, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps clients process traumatic events and the intense emotions linked to those memories. This short-term residential treatment is meant to provide a quick and effective method of reworking distorted perceptions and disturbing memories.
A type of animal-assisted therapy, equine-assisted therapy helps residents form connections with horses to improve their physical and mental health. This treatment enhances an individual’s emotional regulation, sense of responsibility, and self-confidence, leading to the development of healthier coping skills for dealing with hardships.
Recreational therapy addresses the needs of an individual struggling with a mental health disorder or addiction by using an activity-based approach. These activities include:
Through recreational therapy, residents learn healthy coping skills to deal with stressful situations. It can also increase self-awareness and confidence, leading to more life enjoyment and better socialization skills.
Deciding to enter residential treatment isn’t easy, and there are a lot of factors to consider before committing, such as school or work, your loved ones, and whether you can afford to step away from daily responsibilities. Residential treatment can also provide the space and resources needed to recover successfully.
